Self
Defense Martial Arts Exposed!
So what is the big difference between reality based self defense and
martial arts training? I would say, that the role of combat is the
complete training on facing armed and unarmed attackers.
The difference with martial arts is that it is a system developed for
combat, with ranks, belt colors and a long learning curve. I believe
that these systems are ideal for learning how to become a better
fighter.
But there is also sports based combat arts that have self defense
designed into their system. The problem is with such as arts as
Taekwondo, this sports based style has no real working value on the
streets like reality based training.
There are many good types of self defense & martial arts styles
that I highly recommend. In fact I enjoy Krav Maga, Jeetkunedo
Concepts, and Karate. There is also other types of arts out there with
many different styles and teachers.
I recommend that you study self defense and martial arts to have a
better core foundation in combat and fighting. You need stuff you can
rely on and memorize. If you want to become a more efficient fighter I
recommend reading Bruce Lee's thoughts on his philosophy of Jeetkunedo.
Self defense martial arts styles are only limited to their reality
based approach and drilling of simple things to remember under a
stressful encounter. In reality you should train as hard as you can and
stay in shape by being healthy.
Include reality in your training within the dojo or in class to excel
as a fighter!
